Victoria Eats at Denny's for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is holiday for reflecting on what you're grateful for, and spending time with your family, eating a nice meal big meal together. Unfortunately this year we don't have any family nearby to spend Thanksgiving with.

I didn't want to cook a big Thanksgiving meal because,
1. It's a lot of work for just two people to eat,
2. We are moving in less than a week and I don't want to have to throw out good leftovers, and
3. Rodolfo wants turkey for Thanksgiving, and well... https://youtu.be/R7_fN7LFJZk

So what did we do for our Thanksgiving meal in 2017? We went to Denny's, because it was open and they were serving the kinds of things Rodolfo has come to want to eat on Thanksgiving (namely turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes and gravy).

(I gave him my bacon. Also, doesn't that corn look messed up??)

My Food

I ordered the cranberry pancake meal with an orange icing, because I love cranberry-orange things, and it was one of their limited-time seasonal menu items. It seemed more festive than a grand slam.

Rodolfo said he liked his food, and I tried a bite of it with everything (minus the turkey), and I had to agree it was pretty tasty, in a greasy sort of way. I'd say it was better than my food, although the presentation was definitely lacking in both our orders (seriously, what was up with his corn?!).

My food wasn't bad, but it wasn't especially good either. It was basically the same thing I get when I eat at IHOP, except I think IHOP does everything better, lol. The pancakes probably would have been pretty good, but I think they were overcooked (you can see how dark they look underneath the icing.) The glaze was pretty good, but borderline too sweet. "Icing" really probably is the best term for it.

So again, I liked it okay, but I much prefer my pancake combo from IHOP, and my cranberry-orange muffins and orange scones from Panera.

The Verdict: I would not recommend going to Denny's for Thanksgiving if you have any other option, but if it's really important to you to eat the traditional Thanksgiving foods on Thanksgiving, then Denny's will probably get the job done.

Happy Thanksgiving!
